Day 2 of WordCamp Dayton started off where day 1 left off.
WOW!
A lot of great people and the free flow of information. I am not sure how many attended on the second day but I am guessing the total number of people was 120.
I was pretty nervous as I was presenting Find WordPress Help at 10:00. Arriving at 8:00 I had plenty of time to settle in, meet new people, eat donuts and finish my quota of 2 gallons of coffee.
Enough can’t be said about the organizers! Nathan Driver, Nowell VanHoesen and all of the volunteers did Dayton and WordPress proud.
My presentation went fairly well. I had some good questions and if I did not know the answer, I told the person I would find out and get the info to them, which I did. Cory Miller of iThemes was in the audience and I asked him later if he would offer suggestions to improve my presentation. He gave me some great information which I will use in the future.
It was good to see Angie Meeker who is one of the organizers of WordCamp Columbus. The event should be showing up on the WordCamp schedule in a few weeks.
The sessions I attended were very informative and as with any WordCamp, you walk out with more than you walked in with!
It’s good to now that I am getting a reputation at WordCamps. I gave away 2 USB drives and Nile Flores, blondish.net, was kind enough to post this on Twitter.
One of the best statements of the day came from Jeff Chandler, WP Tavern, during a informal info swapping session in the main lobby. With Jeff’s permission see below.
Cory Miller of iThemes gave the keynote after lunch. Cory knocked it out of the park. The tweets were fast and furious as Cory dropped great life lessons throughout his talk. Cory was present the rest of the day and talked with a lot of people.
I have only one regret, I wish that I had been able to talk to more people such as Daniel Lewis of the Audacity to Podcast, the peeps at the Happiness Bar, Nowell and Nathan and many others.
Oh well, maybe at WordCamp North Canton!
